- 1800 Draped Bust Silver Dollar. BB-187, B-16. Rarity-2. VF-35 (PCGS). OGH.
Considerable luster backlights pewter and pearl-gray patina on both sides of this premium Choice VF early dollar. Some russet toning in the date area further enhances the original appearance, as do pale blue and antique gold undertones. The usual features in and around the centers are soft, but the strike is well centered, and both sides retain ample boldness in the more recessed areas of the motifs. BB-187 vies with BB-193 as the most readily obtainable die marriage of the 1800 Draped Bust silver dollar, the present example ideal for circulated type purposes. BB Die State V.
Provenance: From the Steven Jay Ball Collection.
