Description du lot
What a rare delight to have another stunning CAC approved GEM Capped Bust half dollar in this sale. It is very high end and it has a gorgeous look. HIGH Condition Census for the O-106 die marriage. Brilliant, bold mint luster swirls over clean and smooth surfaces when rotated in a light. The luster provides a back light to the wonderful deep blue, teal, violet, and gold iridescent toning. A strong glass reveals a tiny tick or two, but none distract. The strike is exceptionally bold with full definition of Ms. Liberty's hair, drapery and cap. Even the dentils, which are characteristically weak on this variety are rather bold. Likewise the reverse is razor sharp in strike and free of any distracting marks. PCGS 4, NGC 19, CAC 6. The NGC Census data reflects all MS65 1811 half dollars, regardless of variety. The current PCGS Price Guide value is listed at $17,500 and this GEM brought $19,388 in our July 2017 Regency Auction. Nicer than the other MS65 O-106 we sold in September 2018, and it should bring a stronger price when the hammer falls. Cert. Number 83690444 PCGS # 006097
