Lot Description
1879 Liberty Head Eagle. MS-63 (PCGS). A beautiful golden-apricot example with a razor sharp strike and full mint luster. Circulation strike eagle production at the Philadelphia Mint continued to rise through 1879, the year seeing a mintage of 384,740 pieces. This is not a plentiful issue, however, for the vast majority succumbed to the rigors of commerce. One of the nicest Choice Mint State examples we have offered in recent years, this attractively original coin would make a fitting addition to an advanced gold cabinet. Provenance: From the Fairmont Collection - JBR Set. PCGS# 8683. NGC ID: 265M. Click here for certification details from PCGS. Image with the PCGS TrueView logo is obtained from and is subject to a license agreement with Collectors Universe, Inc. and its divisions PCGS and PSA.
