This is a gorgeous Gem, both sides sharply struck in and around the centers with intense, satiny, pinkish-rose luster. Federal records indicate a delivery of 56,500 half cents in 1855. Mint State survivors are plentiful in today's market thanks to a hoard of approximately 500 examples acquired during the 1940s by dealer Charles French of Troy, New York. These coins have since been extremely popular with both high grade type collectors and half cent specialists.<p><p><p>
