1871/1871 Shield Nickel. FS-301. Repunched Date. MS-66 (NGC). CAC. Bright and brilliant surfaces allow full appreciation of captivating satin luster. Both sides are fully struck, a loupe readily revealing repunching at the date which is boldest at the digits 871. Scarce in all Mint State grades, the 1871 FS-302 RPD variety is very rare as a Gem. The present example is tied for CC#1 at the major third party certification services, its offering in this sale sure to be greeted with excitement among specialists in Shield nickel varieties.
