THE SAN DIEGO COLLECTION What a gorgeous near-GEM example of this Rarity-1 die marriage. Sitting just below the published Condition Census, but the eye appeal of this coin is very high end! In the old days before PCGS and NGC grading, a coin like this could have been offered as a GEM, and today there are distinct claims to that grade. Bold and brilliant surfaces gleam with a strong cartwheel luster. A delicate band of old album toning at the peripheries and a sharp strike add to the charm and eye appeal. We really do not know why CAC did not bean this coin, it is very nice. Ex private purchase, raw. PCGS 13, NGC 4. There is a wide range of APRs. The current PCGS Price Guide value is listed at $6,250.
