Lot Description

1722/1-H French Colonies Sou, or 9 Deniers. La Rochelle Mint. W-11835. VF-30. 93.1 grains. Nice glossy light brown with excellent sharpness, but showing several bruises around the rim and cuts at 12 o'clock and 3 o'clock on the obverse. The reverse is as smooth, glossy, and choice as any specimen of this issue we've seen. A desirable coin despite its defects. Reverse swollen around central device, as struck. Craige called this die marriage 12-L, "per Vlack." PCGS# 158629. Provenance: From the Ted L. Craige Collection.
