1878-S Trade Dollar. MS-65 (NGC). As one of the higher-mintage issues in the Trade Dollar series, the 1878-S is a perennial favorite among both circulated and Mint State type collectors. Even so, Gem-quality examples such as this are very scarce in an absolute sense, and they are quite rare from a market availability standpoint. A generally smooth-looking piece, both sides also sport vibrant mint bloom beneath a dusting of champagne-apricot iridescence. A sharp strike rounds out a noteworthy list of attributes.
