A wonderful, crusty, original example. Warm golden tone under a olive-tan patina glows on minimally worn surfaces. Indeed there is barely perceptible wear, and the AU58 grade is likely from the contact marks that are very common to this Type II date. VERY RARE in any Mint State grade, this is a very pleasing, unconserved piece, likely from some old overseas holding. PCGS 81, NGC 192, CAC 34. The most recent PCGS/CAC example was a similar looking coin from the June 2020 segment of the Fairmont Collection, which brought $6,300. The current Collectors Universe value is listed at $7,000.
