Lot Description

Tompkins Die Stage 1/1, Rea et al. Die State P-a, intermediate, the reverse just beginning to show a faint crack though the tops of the letters UN in UNITED. A second offering from the NorthEast Collection for this normally elusive die pairing of the 1805-dated quarter issue. Warmly toned surfaces show dominant pewter-mauve with lighter pearl gray engaging the high points of many of the obverse design elements. Detail is well balanced and overall bold for the assigned grade, and there are no marks worthy of concern.
