Losbeschreibung
The 1945 Mercury dime is a study in strike rarity. Over 159 million were struck thanks to a booming wartime economy, and little care was taken in striking. The central bands of the fasces are almost always weakly defined, making this a very challenging date to find with a full strike, especially in this lofty state of preservation. A rich, satiny mint frost blooms boldly on both sides. Virtually untoned save for the most subtle dusting of iridescent golden accents the high end nearly pristine surfaces. The central reverse band is fully split, making this a very important opportunity for the advanced Mercury dime collector. PCGS 17, NGC 11. The most recent PCGS graded example sold in May 2022 for $21,000 and the current Collectors Universe value is listed at $25,000. A mere half a dozen examples are graded higher in the FB designation and worthy of a high end Registry Set. Cert. Number 45388870 PCGS # 5057
