Lot Description
If this was not the first JR-5 to be struck, it is certainly one of them! Both sides are fully Prooflike, the dies freshly polished with polishing lines seen in the fields on both sides. Indeed only 2 PL examples have ever been graded as such at NGC, this one and a 64. Sharply struck, with every detail boldly impressed on both sides. The devices have a frosty finish, which contrast against the fields. A very early die state, with no clashing or cracks of any kind. Brilliant silver surfaces are untoned and look as fresh and flashy as the day it was struck. The eye appeal is amazing! PCGS 50, NGC 76. Prooflike Population: PCGS 0, NGC 1. With a coin of this essentially unique classification and lack of auction records to go along with it, it is very hard to figure an estimate. We think it should be worth somewhere between MS63 and MS64 valuation, but who knows? It could run away. Truly a special dime for the advanced collector! Cert. Number 4626496-004 PCGS # 004527
