Description du lot: 107.9 grains. A wholesome and attractive example, showing a fully struck obverse portrait, unlike most seen. Glossy dark chestnut brown surfaces show some earthen encrustation around peripheral legends and design elements. Aside from a dull horizontal mark under George's chin, this piece is blessedly free of significant contact marks or other flaws. The rims are intact, and the visual appeal is excellent for the grade. Struck with standard coin turn rotation, the centering is ideal and the strike has left the portrait far bolder than usual. PCGS has graded just four examples of this issue finer than VF. Over the last two decades, we've had only three of the 13 VF coins graded by PCGS, including a 20-coin and two graded VF-35. When considering strike and surface quality, this may be the most appealing of all of them.
