Lot Description
1787 New Jersey Copper. Maris 56-n, W-5310. Rarity-1. Camel Head--Overstruck on Connecticut Copper. VF-30 (PCGS). 136.3 grains. Everyone loves a Camel Head, and coins like this are a good demonstration of why. Glossy medium brown with nice surfaces and a fine broad planchet, this piece displays excellent visual appeal on both sides. The sprig hand of the Connecticut undertype is bold beneath UNUM on the reverse. The obverse is aligned to 6 o'clock, as typical, while the reverse is aligned just left of 6 o'clock. Aside from some natural striations and a little rim abrasion above the star between E P of E PLURIBUS, this piece offers problem free surfaces and a lovely high grade appearance. Die State 2, with die cracks in two places from the left side of the shield. Provenance: From the E Pluribus Unum Collection. PCGS# 767837. Click here for certification details from PCGS.
