- Lot Description
- What a wonderful SUPRB GEM 29-D dime! Totally original and wonderfully preserved, this example possesses a bold mint luster and satiny smooth surfaces that are softly toned with shades of golden-olive-riusset-tan patina. The devices are sharply struck up and both sides are devoid of any serious marks. With a mintage of 5,034,000 the 29-D is one of the most available dates of the 20s, but it is VERY RARE this fine. PCGS 57, NGC 4, CAC 23. There are just five in MS67+ FB and three finer. Only two examples have sold in auction--one in June 2018 for $2,280 and prior to that, one sold for $3,819 in the 2014 ANA auction. The current PCGS Price Guide value is listed at $3,500 and this one will bring a strong price for its great eye appeal. The only PCGS MS68 FB to ever sell in auction realized $29,900 almost a decade ago. This SUPERB GEM is worthy of a world class Mercury dime collection and should bring a premium bid! Cert. Number 35209205 PCGS # 4975
