Lot Description
Breen Die State II. Well centered on the reverse, the obverse is offset to 7 o'clock with a broad border at top, no denticulation at bottom left. The color is a blend of autumn-orange and olive-brown, the surfaces with light verdigris and carbon build up that gives a particularly noticeable greenish hue to the reverse. Microroughness is also noted for accuracy, but the few scattered marks are small in size and singularly inconspicuous during in-hand viewing. An EAC grade of VF20 places this coin just outside of the 2000 Bland census for a Sheldon-120a.<p>This lot includes a tattered paper envelope from famed Philadelphia dealer Henry Chapman, active during the late 19th and early 20th centuries. It also includes an old cardboard coin holder marked on the back H. CHAPMAN / 1.50. Although we wish we had more details, this is an impressive provenance for this coin that will further enhance its desirability with specialists. (Total: 1 coin; 2 supporting items)
