1897 Liberty Head Half Eagle. MS-65+ (PCGS). Lovely medium orange-gold patina mingles with billowy satin luster on both sides of this Gem half eagle. Plentiful in lower grades, the 1897 is remarkably scarce in Gem Mint State despite a mintage of 867,800 circulation strikes. Indeed, PCGS has certified just 3 finer examples, all MS-66. PCGS# 8394.
