Lot Description

1820 Capped Bust Half Dollar. O-107. Rarity-5. No Serifs on Es. Fine-12 (PCGS). A pleasing and original example with mottled charcoal-olive and dove-gray patina to both sides. Uniformly bold and evenly worn, the surfaces are otherwise smooth in hand, although a faint vertical scratch bisecting the top of Liberty's portrait is noted for accuracy. Our multiple offerings in this sale notwithstanding, the 1820 Overton-107 is an elusive die marriage that often sees years elapse between market appearances. PCGS# 39571. NGC ID: 24FD.
