A.C.E. Collection. Mintage: 16,606. 16 graded AU-50, 77 higher at NGC. A challenging antebellum entry, 1857 as a gold coin is certainly much more elusive than silver type coins of the same date! Carrot-gold accents a substantial portion of the surface, layered nicely over the underlying coppery golden hue. This must have been a very well struck coin when new, now slightly flattened by ten points of honest circulation.
