Lot Description
1805 Draped Bust Half Dollar. O-104/104a, (intermediate die state). Rarity-4. AU-53 (PCGS). Handsome "old-silver" surfaces are minimally patinated and actually present as close to brilliant at more direct angles. Considerable satin luster remains, as befits the grade, and the overall detail is suitably bold for a lightly worn, somewhat softly struck half dollar of this challenging type. Impressive AU quality for the high grade circulated type collector.
This intermediate die state example exhibits several spindly die cracks (as struck) contiguous to the peripheral devices on both sides, but the sizeable obverse cud break outside stars 9-12 of O-104a had not yet formed at the time this coin was produced.
