- Lot Description
- Breen Die State VII. A late state of the Sheldon-213 dies, and readily attributable as such by the four prominent cracks at upper right obverse and die failure weakening the letters RT in LIBERTY. On the reverse there is a lighter crack through the letters TE in UNITED into the field below the adjacent NI. Gently mottled medium golden-brown, deeper antique copper, and steel-gray patina greets the viewer from both sides of this boldly defined mid-grade example. Scattered light and moderate marks are noted, including several fine scratches on Liberty's bust and in the left obverse field, as well as a thin graze at central reverse, below the letter N in ONE.
