- 1869 Pattern Quarter. Judd-731, Pollock-812. Rarity-7+. Proof-63 Cameo (NGC). CAC. Standard Silver design with a right-facing bust of Liberty serving as the focal device on the obverse. Liberty is wearing a diadem inscribed LIBERTY, and her hair is tied in a bun. The legend UNITED STATES OF AMERICA is around the border and the motto IN GOD WE TRUST is on a scroll below. On the reverse, a wreath of oak and laurel leaves encircles the denomination 25 CENTS. The inscription 25 CENTS is above and the date 1869 is below. Struck in aluminum with a reeded edge.<br /> Distributed as part of pattern Standard Silver sets of 1869, the aluminum striking Judd-731 has an extant popular of fewer than half a dozen specimens per the website uspatterns.com. Bright silver-white surfaces are well mirrored in the fields; satiny devices are fully defined.
