1814 S-294 R1 Crosslet 4. PCGS graded AU-55. CAC.Choice frosty medium steel brown and olive. Satiny luster covers the fields and protected areas and this cent has outstanding eye appeal. Sharply struck and it looks choice mint state, but there is a trace of friction on the very highest points of the devices. The only marks are a couple microscopic ticks between the forelock and star 6 and a couple small nicks right of the top of the E in ONE. MDS, Breen state II early, with light die clashmarks at the throat and sharp dentils around both sides. There is a sharp double profile on the chin from die bounce or shift (machine doubling). Our grade is AU55.A great example of the Classic Head type. The attribution and Nancy and Bryan Collection provenance are noted on the PCGS label. PCGS population 4; 11 finer. (PCGS # 36520) Value $4,500 - UP
