Lot Description

This popular pattern, designed by William Barber is termed a Metric dollar and uses an obverse design that is similar to the one used on the 1877 Half Union patterns. Liberty dons a coronet with a border of pearls while the reverse shows a partial wreath of cotton and corn tied at the base, a ribbon, and inscriptions that include DEO EST GLORIA and the elemental composition of goloid. Struck in silver with a reeded edge.
