Losbeschreibung: If the premium Gem offered in the previous lot gets away, the coin presented here is an equally desirable Mint State example of this eagerly sought type. Few Scott Restrike Confederate half dollars that we have handled through the years display such vivid toning as seen here. The surfaces are awash in dominant olive-gray with pretty reddish-orange highlights at the borders, the fields with areas of antique silver near-brilliance. Direct lighting calls forth even more colorful undertones of pink, gold, blue and rose that provide further visual appeal. The reverse, coined from the Confederate die, is sharply defined throughout; the obverse is typically softer, but plenty of bold detail remains to Liberty's portrait. Soft and satiny in texture, light collector handling has muted the luster and limited the grade, but the MS-62 designation is spot on, as confirmed by CAC. A desirable Mint State offering for this type that is sure to see spirited bidding.
