1812 Capped Bust Half Dollar. O-108a. Rarity-2. MS-61 (NGC). Lovely steel-blue peripheral toning yields to lighter sandy-rose and pale gold toward the centers. This is a well struck coin for an early date Capped Bust half dollar, nicely centered on the planchet with all major design elements boldly to sharply defined. Lustrous, frosty and uncommonly smooth for the assigned grade, there is much to recommend this coin to the advanced early half dollar enthusiast. A newcomer to the Condition Census in the Spring 2020 revision to Stephen J. Herrman's AMBPR, which shows only a single NGC MS-61 * as CC#2 for the 1812 O-108a die state. PCGS# 6100. NGC ID: 24EW.
