Lot Description

Wonderfully original surfaces are lustrous for the grade with a full endowment of rich, vivid, honey-rose color. Although many 1910-S eagles were destroyed through melting in the late 1930s, the mintage of 811,000 pieces was sufficiently generous to ensure the survival of thousands of examples for the benefit of numismatists and other gold enthusiasts. Most are circulated, as here, but the Stack coin is finer than the typical moderately worn example in VF or EF that saw considerable commercial use in the West.
