- 1794 Flowing Hair Half Dollar. O-101a. Rarity-3+. VG-8 (PCGS).
The offered coin is attractive golden-gray toned example of the very first year and die variety in the half dollar denomination. The obverse is the Flowing Hair style and the reverse shows a delicately-engraved eagle perched within a wreath. The impressions of both dies show good centering, and the reverse exhibits complete dentilation. This issue is doubly appealing; not only is it a highly-desirable two-year design type, it was also produced during the first year of the half dollar denomination at the newly-established Philadelphia Mint.
PCGS# 6051.
