Lot Description

A well centered, suitably bold EF example with light wear that is most pronounced on the hull of the ship and within the upper half of the island. Predominantly ruddy-brown surfaces are microscopically rough, but no sizeable or otherwise significant marks are seen. Glints of the original brassy-gold color are plainly evident within the rigging at the ship's bow, and also along the right obverse border around the name HOWE. (PCGS has mounted this medal incorrectly with the Aquidneck Island side as the obverse.) Definitely a respectable example of this enigmatic and challenging colonial era type.
