Lot Description

1652 Massachusetts Bay Colony Pine Tree Threepence. Noe-36, W-640. Rarity-4. Without Pellets. Fine-15 (PCGS). The obverse is unevenly struck and particularly blunt near the upper left border, as seen in many examples of this variety, Norweb:1225 for example. The reverse is much sharper overall, although a few areas are a bit indistinct due to a couple of old, minor bend marks. Attractively original with warm, even, steel gray patina, abrasions are minimal and insignificant for the assigned grade. A virtually complete tree and bold definition to all reverse devices are further strong suits for this moderately circulated survivor.
