Lot Description
1843 Liberty Seated Silver Dollar. OC-1. Rarity-1. Repunched Date. MS-62 (PCGS). CAC. Richly toned mauve-gray surfaces with a few swirls of bolder steel gray adorning the lower reverse border. Direct lighting calls forth not only iridescent undertones of pink, gold and lilac, but also lively satin to semi-prooflike luster. Well struck for the type, the definition is bold to sharp throughout. Despite our multiple offerings of Mint State examples in this sale, the 1843 Liberty Seated dollar is scarce at this level of preservation with most survivors from a mintage of 165,100 pieces in circulated grades. Provenance: From The Des Moines Collection. PCGS Population: 19; 24 finer (MS-64+ finest). PCGS# 6929. NGC ID: 24YD. Click here for certification details from PCGS.
