Losbeschreibung
Undated (ca. 1860) Success Medal. Small Size. Musante GW-44, Baker-267A, W-10877. Brass. Plain Edge. AU-55 (PCGS). 40.6 grains. A predominantly sandy-brass example with splashes of charcoal gray here and there around the peripheries, more so on the reverse than the obverse. The centering is not quite perfect, the obverse devoid of denticulation from 7 to 12 o'clock, the reverse from 12 to 3 o'clock. Eye in the center of the reverse blunt, typical of the type, but otherwise we note sharp detail to all major design elements. Satiny surfaces are smooth in hand and visually appealing. Certainly a pleasing Choice AU to represent this scarce and popular type. Provenance: Acquired via H. Garrett, date not recorded. Collector envelope with attribution and provenance notes included. PCGS# 782. Click here for certification details from PCGS.
