The 1843 Small D variety is much scarcer than its Medium D counterpart, from the same date and mint. This is a noteworthy EF coin with warm, even, honey-olive color that delivers plenty of eye appeal. Moderately abraded with a mentionable graze in the left obverse field. Even so, the elusiveness of this die pairing will endear this coin to advanced Southern gold collectors.
