Lot Description

Tompkins Die Stage 2/1, Rea et al. Die State P. A peripherally toned piece with crescents of olive-blue and reddish-apricot iridescence visiting the borders. The centers are essentially brilliant, and much frosty luster remains throughout. Sharply struck, as well, and while there are no singularly mentionable blemishes, accuracy compels us to mention several wispy marks on the obverse, over and before Liberty's portrait.<p><strong>Steve M. Tompkins Commentary:</strong> Along with looking for die stages of the 1835 B-2, I spent 13 years looking for a suitable upgrade for my lower grade example of this variety. Luckily, this coin met both requirements.
