Lot Description

Tompkins Die Stage 1/1, Rea et al. Die State P. <strong>Tompkins Plate Coin</strong>. A second offering for this normally elusive and conditionally challenged Browning number, and this is the Tompkins plate coin, ex Logan. It is lightly toned with sandy-gold peripheral color around silver gray centers. Ranked as CC#6 in the 2008 Tompkins reference and tied for CC#7 in the 2010 Rea et al. census for the 1834 B-5 dies.<p><strong>Steve M. Tompkins Commentary:</strong> A nice wholesome rare die marriage coin that did some duty in commerce during the 1830s. Luckily it was put back before it acquired heavy wear. Another ex Logan coin I hate to part with after more than 20 years of ownership.
