- Lot Description
- 1867 Three-Dollar Gold Piece. MS-62 (PCGS).
The gorgeous semi-prooflike surfaces of this three-dollar gold piece combine satiny devices with mirrored fields. The entire coin displays vivid golden-rose patina that enhances the eye appeal. Sharply struck, very smooth for the assigned grade, and worthy of inclusion in an advanced gold cabinet. The circulation strike 1867 three-dollar gold is scarce issue with no more than 200 coins believed extant from a paltry mintage of 2,600 pieces. Most survivors are worn to one degree or another, and Mint State examples such as this are always in demand.
