Lot Description
A beautifully toned GEM Hawaiian Dime. While not yet a territory of the United States, our influence on the island kingdom was very strong already, and contract coinage was produced. Designed by Charles Barber and struck at the Philadelphia mint. Only 250,000 were struck, and at the GEM level are scarce to rare. The present coin has a delightfully brilliant luster that accents the dappled blue, gold, tangerine, and pearly silver toning. The eye appeal is further heightened by the sharp strike and generally defect free surfaces. Really high end and pretty, a perfect type coin! PCGS 27, NGC 17, CAC 9. The most recent PCGS-graded example sold for $4,320 in December 2021 and it was not CAC. The current PCGS Price Guide value is listed at $4,750 and it jumps to $9,500 in MS66. This is a wonderful type coin for this territorial issue. Good luck. Cert. Number 45446736 PCGS # 10979
