- JR-4, the Large 8, variety. Lustrous fields are coated by a marbled cobalt, teal, steely-silver, and rosy-gray. Only the slightest hint of rub can be seen on the highest points of the design elements that are generally well struck save for the most central portion of the reverse. Struck from a later state of the obverse die with a sharp curving die crack. The eye appeal is quite nice. It is numismatically interesting to note that this reverse die was also used to strike the 1798 BD-2 quarter eagles. PCGS 2, NGC 3. The most recent Large 8 to sell in auction was a PCGS coin that sold in December 2013 for $5,875. The last NGC coin sold for $4,994 over five years ago. The current CU value is listed at $7,500. A very scarce early dime that does not appear with any real frequency in this grade! Cert. Number 901702-002 PCGS # 4466
