Lot Description
1885 Seated Liberty Dime. Proof-67 Deep Cameo (NGC). CAC. An exemplary coin as the surfaces are pristine and the contrast is extraordinary. These deed cameo (called ultra cameo by NGC) coins are some of the first ones struck when the dies have just been prepared to make proofs. The frost on the devices is the thickest, and the mirror fields are the most perfectly smooth from the careful polishing process. From the mintage of 930 pieces in proof, a total of 5 examples of this degree of contrast have been seen between both NGC and PCGS, and the present coin is tied with just one other at the top of that select group. Phenomenal quality is never cheap, but in this case it will be well worth the price required.
