Description du lot
1851-D Liberty Head Half Eagle. Winter 26-O. Repunched Date, Weak D. EF-45 (PCGS). A boldly defined specimen by Dahlonega Mint standards, this half eagle displays light, even wear to devices that retain plenty of striking detail. Glints of satiny mint luster are noted, as are warm medium gold toning and no significant handling marks. Despite a relatively generous mintage of 62,710 pieces, the 1851-D numbers among the top 10 rarest half eagle issues from this Southern coinage facility. The D mintmark is extremely faint, but its lower left corner is discernible with the aid of a loupe. Provenance: From the Fairmont Collection. PCGS# 98248. NGC ID: 25U7.
