Lot Description
This is an exceptional JR-1, the only really collectible of the two varieties of the 1824/2 overdate. Warm peach and apricot gold tone shows light rose and pale tan iridescent toning. This charming coin was bluntly struck from clashed and cracked dies. The eye appeal is better than the other examples we have seen. PCGS 8, NGC 6. The current PCGS Price Guide value is listed at $5,000 and with only six graded higher, this coin is a real prize. Keep in mind that the ONLY MS65 to sell brought $31,200 in the 2018 ANA auction. This is a very scarce coin in Mint State and in our opinion, grossly undervalued. Cert. Number 38175926 PCGS # 4502.00
