1870 Pattern Half Dollar. Judd-935, Pollock-1041. Rarity-6. Copper. Reeded Edge. Proof-64 RD (PCGS). William Barber's seated Liberty design coupled with the standard half dollar die of the date. Liberty seated to left, her right hand on a shield with a draped ribbon reading LIBERTY in raised letters, Liberty pole and cap behind, left hand holding a laurel branch, hair tightly coiffed with a ribbon therein, 13 stars around, date below. Deep rose-orange with lively luster on frosty motifs and mirror fields. We note a trace of royal blue on the high points of the design. The only RD example of Judd-935 certified by PCGS. PCGS# 81181. Provenance: Ex: Denali Collection. PCGS Population: 1; no others within the RD designation.
