Lot Description

Nicholas Jackson Collection. Overton-101a represents the first of the two overdates for 1829/7. On the reverse, the apex of the shield has an extra tine that extends to the upper left, quickly distinguishing it from O-102. The "a" die-state gets recognized by noticing some missing or weak feathers beneath the shield, but it remains a common (although popular) variety nevertheless. Only a thin layer of almond-grey patina drapes the surface but overall, this example appears quite nicely unabraded to the unaided eye.
