Lot Description

Breen Die State I. Both sides are toned in medium golden-brown patina with tinges of light rose intermingled here and there, a bit more noticeably on the reverse. The strike is well executed, if drawn trivially to 3 o'clock on both sides, the obverse sharply defined throughout, the reverse equally so apart from typical softness to many of the leaves in the wreath. The texture is smooth and inviting, both sides hard and tight with neither roughness nor significant marks to distract the viewer. With an EAC grade of AU50 (per your cataloger), this piece is just outside of Condition Census for the Sheldon-251 per the 2000 Bland listing.
