Description du lot
Breen Die State VII. An attractive piece with plenty of good gloss to generally chocolate-brown surfaces that reveal hints of olive and deep rose colors as the coin rotates under strong lighting. Overall detail is sharp to support the impressive About Uncirculated grade from PCGS, although the die state is advanced with reverse die swell explaining the softness at the word OF as well as over and around the end of Liberty's bust; die swell is also evident in the left obverse field. The in-hand appearance is impressively smooth, the surfaces also holding up well under magnification with only small, singularly inconspicuous handling marks discernible with persistence. Del Bland assigns this coin an EAC grade of VF35, as does Bob Grellman in his cataloging for the Goldberg's January 2014 sale of the Dr. Philip W. Ralls Collection. Noyes says EAC VF30 and ranks this coin tied for CC#13 in his census.
