Lot Description

1856 Liberty Seated Quarter. Proof-61 (NGC). Chiefly brilliant with slate, olive, blue, and gold iridescence at the rims. From an unknown but undoubtedly low production run of Proof 1856 quarters, with PCGS suggesting an "estimated 20-30 known" a figure that may be off somewhat, as PCGS has experienced 26 different grading events for Proofs of the date, and NGC lists another 24 events for 1856 Proof quarters. PCGS# 5552.
