1897-S Barber Half Dollar. MS-63 (PCGS). Expertly produced with needle sharp definition throughout the design, this lovely piece also sports full mint luster in a lively satin texture. Virtually brilliant with outstanding eye appeal. In a series replete with scarce and conditionally challenging issues, the 1897-S stands out due to a limited mintage of 933,900 pieces. As an early date Barber half dollar from the San Francisco Mint, this issue suffered a particularly high rate of attrition through circulation.
