Lot Description
Lot 437 1855 N-10 R1 Italic 55 PCGS graded MS63 Brown.Frosty medium steel brown and olive with traces of lighter reddish tan faded down from mint color in some of the protected areas. The only notable marks are a very thin nick in the field right of star 2, a spot of darker toning on the rim left of the date, and a tiny struck-through line right of the inner curl. The reverse is choice and lustrous. EDS+, die state b. Star 6 is has been reduced to a single tiny star tip by die clogging, the lower two points of star 1 are blunted but visible, and the tip of the bust is slightly blunted as well. The fine die lines on the reverse are still visible. Another interesting step in the progression of die clogging experienced by this variety very early in the die pairing. Our grade is MS60+. The attribution and COL Ellsworth Collection provenance are noted on the PCGS label. PCGS population 3; 13 finer. Estimated Value $500 - UP Ex Doug Bird 11/19/1994-Colonel Steven K. Ellsworth Collection.
