- Lot Description
- Another really pretty and PQ for the grade Antebellum half dollar. A remarkable flashy luster beams around the sharply struck devices giving them a real 3-D effect. Both sides show precision strikes, rendering every detail with razor-like sharpness. The frosty-brilliant surfaces are mostly untoned save for a very light dusting of gold at the rims. The eye appeal is excellent for an MS62, and at first glance this old holdered coin has the look of a higher grade. PCGS 7, NGC 5, CAC 2. According to our auction database, there have been only six auction appearances going back to 1999, and this coin represents 2 of them, selling first in September 2006 and then again in November 2016 for $2,233. Before that, an example sold in the 2014 ANA auction for $3,055, clearly the Collector's Universe value of $2,000 is too low. Here is another coin that is very scarce and rarely offered in Mint State--what a great combination of features for the collector! Cert. Number 8287586 PCGS # 6267
