1822/1 Capped Bust Half Dollar. O-101. Rarity-1. AU-58 (PCGS). This satin to softly frosted example retains nearly full luster to tempt Mint State quality. Overall sharply defined, as well, with attractive iridescent toning in steely-mauve and powder blue that is more extensive on the obverse. This popular variety has long been listed as an overdate per Overton's classification, although the Spring 2020 revision to Stephen J. Herrman's AMBPR for Bust half dollars carries the interesting note, "Variety is NOT an overdate!" In any case, this is a particularly desirable Choice AU example that is sure to see spirited bidding.
